#UdonChallenge 655/1200 #addisababa #ethiopia

Here comes Ethiopia! Ethiopia has many unique things to offer and is culturally very interesting, such as their own language, coffee culture, superfood known as "Injera", life of ethnic minorities. But living/cooking udon in Ethiopia was probably one of the most difficult experience among all the countries I've been to, because of altitude in the capital city Addis ababa, difficult access to Asian groceries, water quality, and so on...

This is so called "injera", known as the main dish of Ethiopia. It is made of grains called "teff" and is like a sour crepe. Many foreigners have difficult time eating this, but it is actually very nutritious, so I feel like this food supports the health of Ethiopian people.

Bitter Ethiopian coffee. Never ask Ethiopians "does coffee culture in Ethiopia influenced by Italy?"... because they've got things to say lol

This place is known as the scene from Dragon Ball among Japanese people.

Answer to “Who I Am” is only in the memory.

It might sound over exaggerated, but few weeks ago in Mexico, I felt so close to death. I wouldn’t want to experience something like this anymore, but as it was my first experience to feel so close to death, I found out many things through this experience which I haven’t noticed or thought through really.

When I felt so close to death, the first thing that was in my head was about my family. The person I had in my mind whom I could ask for help at that timing was my mom, but I didn’t. I said “sorry” to my mom in my head. It sounds so conventional when I write this experience in words, but it was so big and important for me that I could actually experience that it is my family that comes in my head in this kind of situation.

At the same time, I thought about who was “I” , and what “I” meant. In one word, my “memory” makes who I am. Every memory I experienced through my sensations and other people’s “memory” of me probably create “I”.

If someone has lost his or her memory completely, this person’s body exists, but one’s consciousness of oneself is gone. It is almost same as death. as this person cannot identify who he or she is anymore. Also, when a person cannot ideatify oneself by him/herself, and if nobody remembers this person, who really can identify this person?

In other words, my memory and the relationship with others make who I am. Now I really can appreciate whatever happens in my life and the existence of people around me who are connected with me in any ways.
